Workgroup Focus:
- On-going identification and recruitment of new members
- Identify specific needs in communities
- Define mutual goals of tobacco and chronic disease providers and organizations
- Develop 3 to 5 short-term and long-term strategies with defined activities
Local Workgroup Projects:
Lehigh Valley
- Create chronic disease/tobacco articles for Lehigh County Conference of Churches and Lehigh Valley Power of Share on-line newsletters.
- Provide Young Lungs at Play education, training and possible ordinance/policy implementation in one park.
Carbon, Monroe, Luzerne, Wyoming
- Distribute the American Cancer Society's other tobacco products material to Little League baseball and softball team coaches and parents; dental offices; and at community events to raise awareness about these harmful products.
- Provide Young Lungs at Play education, training and possible ordinance/policy implementation in one park.
Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne
- "Adopt-A-Practice" will identify medical or dental offices interested in training on patient tobacco intervention and referral to local treatment resources.
