Youth from Pennsylvania's Northeast Health District are participating in National Kick Butts Day with local events in their schools and community. Kick Butts Day empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco. As a national day of activism, Kick Butts Day empowers youth to take action against Big Tobacco at more than 2,000 events from coast to coast. In the Northeast Health District of Pennsylvania, teens in our Power of Ten program will be raising awareness on the dangers of tobacco by providing peer prevention education in elementary or middle school classrooms and offer information to their fellow teens and teachers at lunchtime or throughout the day. Prevention education will be offered to 4th to 6th grade students, who are most vulnerable to experimenting with tobacco products. Activities may include: tobacco bingo, trivia pursuit, a question exercise ball, tobacco free pledge cards, posters, between class PA announcements or other messaging to inform and educate school youth or church community members. Stinky Ciggy, our Northeast mascot, will appear at various locations to spread tobacco prevention messages in an engaging and fun way.

Activities are listed by county on the second page of the PDF. Please call the local contact for more information. We encourage you to attend an event for great photo opportunities and talk with the students.
